Mark your calendars for July 26 when an art-related event is scheduled to take place to benefit Our Voice, the local rape crisis center, and Traveling Postcards an international humanitarian organization.
The event, called "Nourish the Soul," is an afternoon of art-making benefitting women who have been victimized by sexual violence. With the instruction of local artists and Caroline Lovell, founder of Traveling Postcards, women will create works of hope and healing to share with those who are seeking comfort and wisdom after experiencing trauma. We will create art postcards which will be included in Our Voice's hospital bags for local women who come into the hospital after suffering a sexual assault.
This event is taking place on Friday, July 26 from 1-3 at Homewood (19 Zilcoa Street) in Asheville.
The event is intended for anyone - no artistic talent or experience needed. Just a desire to share words and images of encouragement and solidarity to women in a difficult circumstance.
The event fee is $20 with proceeds benefitting the aforementioned organizations. We will have online registration & payment set up within a week. Details can be found at www.ourvoicenc.org
Please help spread the word and do join us for this creative session on July 26.
