Tools for Empowerment and a Creativity Exchange: An Afternoon Devoted to Girls Ages 8 - 16 and their Mothers
Saturday, May 7, 2016 1 - 4:30 pm
Center for Art and Spirit, 1 School Road, Asheville
Are you a parent or guardian of a young girl? Would you like her to feel more confident, self assured, and willing to express herself? This event is designed to provide the space, opportunity and skills to feel empowered, inspired and to share your unique expression.
Tools for Empowerment is an active, upbeat workshop where mothers and daughters will learn and practice skills for walking strong, standing in their power, using their voice and feeling safe in the process. Research strongly indicates that people who practice skills are more likely to use them throughout life. As we learn in partnership, we have opportunity to remind one another of these skills as we incorporate them into our everyday lives.
Workshop participants will have opportunity to learn and practice skills such as powerful body language and physiology, grounding for confidence, eye contact and firm handshake, acting with awareness, exercising our intuition, positive self-talk, defining boundaries and discovering our power voice.
The Creativity Exchange is an opportunity for participants to share their talents and gifts. Mothers and daughters are asked to bring a handmade craft to barter, trade or show while we enjoy herbal tea, chocolate truffles and open our space for conversation and connections.
Investment: $45 per Mother-Daughter pair
$15 extra per daughter for families with multiple daughters participating
Coming of Age Circle for Girls and Their Mothers
Beginning Fall 2016
You and your daughters are invited to gather in community and honor the feminine. The intent of the Coming of Age Gathering is to help girls ages 8 - 12 navigate the path from girl to young woman with intentionality, mentorship and joy.
The May 7 workshop (above) will be our kickoff event for this circle. Those interested are encouraged to attend to get to know the facilitators and see if it feels a good match for the coming year. Coming of Age Circles will be rich with singing, creating and honoring ourselves and others. The gathering is facilitated by Anne Heck and Lena Eastes and offers time for replenishment, ease, laughter, sharing and learning.
If you're interested in learning more about the details of our gatherings, please read this post about our June Coming of Age Circle.
The gathering meets monthly for 10 months. Inquiries welcome.
Gather the Women
Meets Weekly ~ Monday Evenings, 7 - 9 pm
NOTE: Gather the Women is not currently meeting. Newly forming circles will be announced here and in the newsletter.
Women from varied backgrounds and places are experiencing the call to reclaim their feminine nature, to slow themselves and listen, to awaken to their authentic selves and move in the world from their unique inspired and purposeful place of knowing.
Gather the Women offers a sacred space for women of all ages to gather and honor themselves. In our busy lives, it's often challenging to find time to be present with ourselves. Gifting yourself with this time and space allows you to come into balance with yourself and to be witnessed in your authenticity by a supportive circle of women.
Participants are invited to bring something to place on our centerpiece. Gather the women meets Mondays from 7 - 9 pm at Center for Art and Spirit in West Asheville. Space is limited; please Contact Anne (or 665-8316) to reserve your place in circle and receive details on meeting place. All are welcome.
